Default Problem with AUX port

Dear all,

I recently bought a Rotel RC 1070 pre-amp. I have phones, CD and my
tuner connected to it and running well.I was planning on using the
last remaining AUX connection to connect my DVD to it.

The interconnects are working fine but there is hardly any volume
coming out of it until I push the volume knob to real high when I
notice a little volume through.

Is AUX like Phono that takes a different voltage than CD or Tuner? Or
do I have a lemon?

Regards Max

**No

Or
do I have a lemon?

**Maybe. Try feeding tuner into the AUX input. If you get a result, then the
preamp is OK.

So how does, say, the CD sound into the AUX input? How does the DVD
sound into the CD input?

Usually the same.

On many designs all the inputs with the exception of the disc one go
straight to the input selector switch(s) which might be mechanical or
electronic.
