How much oil do they drip ?

About a pint a week....

More than I imagined. You presumably have drip trays under them in that
case.

No need - I park them on my neighbour's drive....

Oh sure !

Anyway, relax - they don't drip any oil at all (they are modern
manufacture and only a couple of years old); I'm only winding Graham up

enough oil to give a bugger about, unless they were very poorly....

I saw some late '70s Triumphs when they were new. Drip trays in the showroom
and pools of oil when parked. That was the British motorcycle industry
when old and incontinent; things were different in its prime.

Yes, the 'height' for me is the bikes from the 50's and 60's and there's
tons of them about for damn good money significantly *not* spewing oil
everywhere! The only difference in the drip trays for 70s cars and bikes is
that the ones for cars were quite a bit bigger!

That said, 'we' (in the hands of #2 son these days) have a '74 Trident:

and that doesn't drip at all.

(Doesn't run either atm, but let's not get into that!! ;-)

Porous castings ? !!! That's inexcusable.

I would have though the horizontally split crack case would be the give
away.

Yep - the quick/obvious solution that allowed the Japs to play all sorts of
games with main bearings, but not an absolute necessity with modern
materials and machining capabilites!
