It wasn't intended to prove anything, just a light hearted answer to your question: "Why would anyone use standard jump leads". Not much point in giving light hearted answers to Kitty's ****e - he has the sense of humour of an Iyatolla. But not so pretty. Then they're not 'super heavy duty' enough. Or does the cable twixt battery and starter routinely melt on such vehicles? Tell that to Boss Skinflint. Not really an answer to the point. No, they don't melt. Dunno why, maybe they are made from high end loudspeaker cable. The amount of overload to melt decent quality 'ordinary' jump leads - like the 25mm˛ ones I'd had for ages would be rare. They've jump started a 100 Kva diesel generator off an ordinary car's battery. And of course most trucks are 24 volts so the current is halved. But it depends on length. Hardly rocket science. -- *Procrastinate now Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

A little wooden filing cabinet under the table I'm using right now - here's a photo of it: http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/CPC.jpg (Actually, it's a photo of a photocopy of it - I've no idea where the original is and yes, that was a joke about the filing cabinet...!! ;-) |

Seven whole days from start to finish, that's *real* professionalism that is! When you get a little older you'll come to realise that the words 'profession' and 'professional' are pretty meaningless these days. Even that CPC course doesn't now seem to require the weeks of reading notes received in the post before the week's residential, that I had to do! |

I got my latest copy of 'Stereophile' yesterday and started to read it. I came across comments by Paul Messenger about some work that Russ Andrews and Ben Duncan have recently put onto the web. This seems to be taken by Paul Messenger as showing that Russ's claims re some of his products are "now supported by proper scientific analysis". But having looked at http://www.russandrews.com/downloads...estPremRes.pdf [above file size 700K] What made me really laugh was that it was not until *after* the ASA ruling that they actually conducted any tests to see if their products worked [quote] when used with hi-fi equipment [unquote] Cheers Ian |
