I just serviced a Woodside SC-26 preamp. Quite a nice product. Well built
and a good performer. My client wishes to trade it in, but I have no idea
of it's after-market value. Any thoughts on what it is worth would be
appreciated. It is in perfect working order. The fault turned out to be a
leaky styroseal cap.
Woodside was a company formed by John Widgery, former senior
engineer ar Radford, when, following Arthur Radford's death, the
conpany closed.
John himself is now long retired. He sold Woodside to Mike Davis,
but it seems that the company is no longer in business.
Their products were of a high build standard, but being no longer in
production, but, due to the lack of a "legendary" name, they are
probably not worth much second had.
**Thanks for the info. I suspect you are correct. It is certainly a nicely
made unit (a PITA to service though) and, from the partial schematic I have,
well designed too. It measures well and sounds decent. I have managed to
find that it was quite an expensive preamp in it's day.
