Default New webpage comparing BBC iPlayer with DTTV

Hi,

this is just to let people know that I have just put up a new webpage at

http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/BBC/iPlayerRulesOK.html

which compares the measured results for the R3 iPlayer with DTTV, and also
BBC4 TV via DTTV.

The measurements have thown up some intriguing results. So I am in the
process of doing some more analysis, and using more data to see what
diagnosis can be reached. I will also be looking at other aspects of the
iPlayer, etc, in due course. So hope to make more results available when
they are ready.

Slainte,

Jim

Jim,

It might also be interesting to compare Radio 3 satellite broadcasts
with the other distribution channels. (As I listen now, it is running
at 192kpbs.)

My recollection is that you do not have a satellite system. If you are
interested, I can make recordings from Radio 3 for you and send you
either the complete transport stream or just the de-multiplexed MP2
audio stream.

Yes. That is a good idea. Although at present I am still working on other
aspects of the iPlayer, etc. (Hope to have more to report in due course.)
And then have something quite different to look at.

Again, yes please. I'd welcome that as I don't have a satellite RX. However
probably best if done in the future once I am though what I am currently
doing. Already up to my armpits! :-)

Can you please email me directly sometime to discuss details?

Cheers,

Jim

I've now expanded the info on this topic by adding a second page that
provides more results, etc. This includes comparing 'live' with 'listen
again' and also a look at BBC TV iPlayer.

When doing this I re-arranged the page locations so now the original page
is at

http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/BBC/iPlay...sOK/Page1.html

with the new page following on at

http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/BBC/iPlay...sOK/Page2.html

Pleased to say that continued examination shows the limiting effect on
radio stations is rarer than you might think from the initial results.
Still shows it is present, though.

Slainte,

Jim
