Advice on a power supply umbilical needed.
True, but if the connector is *within* an enclosure that needs a tool to
open it then the 50V limit does not apply, even in domestic use. David. thanks David - that's worth knowing! andy |

That makes sure that ground currents can't generate any voltages in the signal path. Careful ground design allows you to use a single chassis quite happily. Exactly as you describe! Brilliant, then just bolt them together and hard wire the connection. d -- Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

David. thanks David - that's worth knowing! andy Never mind all the useless technowanking, Andy - I gave you a couple of real world, useful suggestions. Have you spoken to Phil at Bluebell yet? If anyone knows how to daisy-chain 500VDC boat-anchors in the UK, he will. While Cliff UK will almost certainly know who's got 500VDC 'touchproof' connectors available - if, indeed, anyone has at less than *industrial* prices.... So, jump about a bit Andy and let us (me) know how you get on - in all the crap that's flying about in the group atm, this is something real that might just be handy for someone else in the future! :-) |

It is **NOT** a simple connector choice issue. The clueless ****ing OP is asking the wrong question. Try reading my post on the matter. ....... Phil |

OK Phil, I just did and I think I see where you're coming from - the 'live chassis' possibility is where it hangs, ain't it? And the difference is my 250VDC* 'umbilicals' are going to *PCBs* as per: http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/showntell/PhonoKit.jpg (I really have gotta start reading posts if I'm going to respond to them....) Andy, still speak to Phil at Bluebell - he's still the guy who'll know if what you want to do can be done at all safely! *still not an inconsiderable tug on yer bell end if you let it touch! :-) |
