Why voltage ratings are nothing to do with physics.

That was my point. Strange point. Why the obsession with physics books and scientists? It's not an obsession. It has been a lifelong interest/professional occupation. When someone claims that voltage ranges have been classified I wanted to know more about it. A physicist would understand why. The point is that this is nothing to do with science, or physics. It's a matter of a terminology adopted by practical engineers to make for easy communication with other practical engineers. You might just as well complain that your physics books don't explain why we drive on the left in the UK. David. |
