Izotopiary
No idea where the original mention of Izotope RX is, so I've started another
thread. (Wot new?) By way of (hopefully interesting) feedback after Don's timely recommendation, here are some 'cuts' of 'digitised vinyl' from the Melodious Thunk 'Brilliant Corners' album that have had the Izotope 'de-clicking' treatment. (No idea how old the vinyl is - I suspect it's an 80's disc, but the recordings were made in December 1956!) This is a short clip (1:06) which is nice and *fresh*: http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/shown...sha%20Clip.mp3 There's some nice high treble (Celesta) in this clip (2:34): http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/shown...ica%20Clip.mp3 And more of the same her, but considerably longer and from the beginning (7:44): http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/shown...ger%20Clip.mp3 The music may not be to everybody's taste but I think these clips demonstrate the ability of modern 'de-clicking' software compared to the 'Surform' variety of the bad old days! Enjoy! |

I guess I'm waiting for someone to say these clips: http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/shown...sha%20Clip.mp3 http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/shown...ica%20Clip.mp3 Are either *really good* or *really bad* (not the third one I posted - something went wrong with it), but it ain't ever gonna happen, is it? Oh well, tant pis.... :-) |

But Izotope won't make them any better than new vinyl, which is no better than ok. d |

Well, of course it was (almost every single Show N Tell post I have bothered with in the past has gone virtually ignored), but I thought I'd gently stir the waters as there isn't anything doing today and I'm stuck here on *two machines* (and a record player) ripping, digitising, declicking and burning!! But Izotope won't make them any better than new vinyl, which is no better than ok. Oh. small pipey voice OK, then.... :-( |
