Came across this on another newsgroup:

http://www.iconeye.com/index.php?opt...es-the-uk-plug
-

Seems just the thing to at least start to tidy up the plug/socket
proliferation I have - 11 at the TV/hifi for example.

ISTR something similar for low current appliances - is it still made?

Rob

OT (cont'd) Also came across this:

Radio 4 this morning:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today...00/8398753.stm

'A singing toy mouse has been recalled after complaints that it sings
the words "paedophile, paedophile", the Sun reports. Listen to the song
played on the Today programme.'

That's not OT \Rob, that's very interesting.

(Mains plugs are the bane of eBayers everywhere! :-)

Stuff like guitars is OT but I'm not complaining, I find stuff about music
and musical instruments very interesting - I'm not the one who screams 'OT'
everytime this ng wanders outside of his narrow little comfort zone....

I thought it said: 'Pucciwanka, Pucciwanka, jingle all the way...!!' ?

I think most people share your view. Threads slightly
(or sometimes outrageously) OT seem to get the most
replies.

You will have to chage your middle name to "Singh"
All Singhs are Sikhs, but not all Sikhs are Singhs

Here's an (almost) approriate signature tune for you.

An excellent example of multi-mic big band for Dave P

Oh and do they not?

Nobody is forced to read a thread, respond to or even tolerate a poster
here - if they do any of those things, then they can take the responsibility
for them and otherwise STFU....

(Maggots like Plowman wailing and crying about how they *want* this ng to go
just cracks me up!! Beyond *ludicrous*!! @:-))

Sing Sing Sing, eh?

Here's one you won't find in YouTube:

Don't lose heart so early, Keith.
Dave will be posting his hard-hitting big band recording
made with a single-pair any moment now. Or will he?

It's funny because I have heard the same claim
on numerous occasions, and aways from people like
Dave, armchair experts who always think they know
better than the people who do this kind of thing on
a daily basis.

One can achieve wonderful results with a simple-pair
set-up in many types of recording. Unfortunately, big
band is not one of them.

If he does it will be the first thing he's posted other than *narrowband*
yap in all the time I've subscribed here.

It stems from being allowed to get away with bull****ting for so long....

Good enough for me....

Isn't it strange that *you* had occasion to ask my advice privately on how
to handle a live gig, Iain? Think I still have the email somewhere...

Carry on with your fantasies, Iain. I never said you could. But don't let
accuracy get in your way.

I'd actually posted it to the wrong group originally - even worse OT -
but it generated quite a lot of interest.

Here, just trying to be sensitive to the some of the more sensitive :-)

Wonder just how well something with rotating pins would survive? But it
certainly looks a good idea. Although not many will be willing to hack off
their plugs to fit it. So it would need to be taken up as OE by somebody.

I've got some inline distribution boards that take 6 plugs similar to IEC
ones. But haven't seen them for a while. But my main installation dates
back to before everything came with a fitted plug - so I dunno if I'd use
that system now.

It did indeed sound like paedophile to me - but not apparently to the
presenter.

QED used to sell a distribution panel which took small plugs similar to
IECs, but without the shroud. Then they were modified to have a tab which
opened the socket shutters. By cutting off the tab, the later plugs as well
as the originals could interchange with an IEC mains outlet, albeit without
shrouds round the pins.

Considering that professionally, IEC mains distribution panels are
commonplace, there will be one or more in any equipment rack, I'm surprised
no enterprising Foo-merchant (RA for example?) has thought of dusting them
with fairy-powder, quadrupling the price and selling them as the latest
audiophile accessory....Gold-plated MKs are so last year....
