Nice to see that Teac machine and the Rogers speakers still in service.

I've had the speakers (LS/2s) and the Mission amp since 1988, they still
sound great. The TEAC I got last spring, that place is actually reserved
for my...

assuming it works - it has been in storage in Rome for 20 years.

As for the system as a whole, I think that it's a bit over-bright and
tiring now, probably because of the room, and especially with harsher
sources like the Internet radio. I'm not sure what to do about that.

My usual kneejerk reaction to 'overbright/tiring' claims is to suggest
trying valve amplification (DHTs preferably), but that's not always easy
to do.

Your requirements for white plastic conduit with a snap on cover appear
to be ridiculously small, given the amount of 'airtime ' they have
received but are probably well within the few spare/unwanted bits I have
up in the rafters of my garage and which will be going in the skip I
will be ordering soon, when the weather improves - you can have them for
nowt if you are able to collect from St Neots, Cambs??

Well, I'm not planning on replacing anything until it stops working and
I can't fix it...

The CD player's display hasn't worked for about 10 years, but I can live
with that, though I admit was looking at the prices for second-hand
Cyrus CD players last night.

Many thanks for the offer, but I haven't any plans to go remotely near
there any time soon.

OK, that'll be 'size (form factor) thing' I expect - pity you can't come
and collect the ducting, there's also 'Cyrus sized' Cyberhome DVD player
I don't need that plays CDs perfectly well!

(Or at least did do - last time it was used!)

No problem - there's always that slim chance you only lived two streets
away!

Freecycle! You'd be amazed what people will take; just about anything
short of filthy rubble and smashed bricks.

I'm sure your ducting will be gratefully snapped up by someone.

OK, by way of trying to learn different procedures on a new machine
(different )S, keystrokes, softwares &c.) and get outdoors for a few
minutes, I've done some of my 'trademark' Show N Tell for you:

Here's the Cyberhome (note size compared with 'normal' CDP at the bottom):

And here's the plastic conduit:

See the furthest away - there's various short lengths in two different
sizes but not much of it altogether.

'Freecycle'...??

Not sure about that - I looked at it once and it seemed to require a
Blood Oath and five copies of my Birth Certificate, so I let it go...

Well, it does involve the filthy bloody Yahoo!, which kept me off it for
years before I gave in. But I have cleared more stuff with less trouble
since then than I could have in any other way, and also got some things
I couldn't easily have obtained otherwise.

So it's been worth it for me.

Fair enough.

Yesterday a very nice chap came to collect my Suzuki motorbike in a big
white van. He also went off with a 100 inch tripod projector screen
(rendered spare by the motorised one we are using atm), the 'spare'
Samsung Blu-ray player I mentioned in this group a few days ago and a
nearly new leaf blower/sucker I bought on the impulse and which was more
trouble to use than it was worth - we get way too many leaves for such a
thing!

He almost also went off with the quite new Sony AV amp I thought we had
been having cable/connector problems with (another recent mention) but
I'm not *ever* in the biz of fitting up people with dodgy kit and, if
nowt else, the guy has offered to mentor me on the Mac *forever*, so we
put a hold on it for now!

Asitappens, it turns out after a bit of swapping and chopping last night
it's almost certainly the PJ and not the amp or player!!

This year is going to be a big *clear out year* for me - only so far in
and I'm rid of all the above and even my car is off my hands!!

:-)

Yeah, there's probably a doctorate waiting for anyone that can write a formula
that predicts how much 'traffic' any given usenet post will generate.

I'm sure it's already covered in one of these new bull****
ideas/theories that seem to just keep coming out of West Coast
universities in 'you know where'...

;-)
