That's why I included the CD versions! You can hear how
the synth on the first extract almost breaks through into
glassiness, while the piano clearly doesn't. Yet on the
LP, it's audible on both.


My apologies, I misread your text and wasn't getting it. I initially
focussed on your later samples which were not duplicated.

The Roxy music LP shows classic and extreme tracking error, including the
appearance of greater dynamics due to acute distortion created by
mistracking. It's an open question how much of this is etched into the LP.

If possible, I'd get another copy of the LP if nothing seems to fix the
problems with this one, as the LP could well be physically damaged.
