Chuckle.. How old is he now, surely he is not that ancient?
Brian
He's 62. So still a while to go before he gets his pension
a bus pass, and winter heating allowance
No, I'm 62 and I've had two WFPs - another stupid waste of government money
with, as usual, most of it going where it isn't needed!
(You could say I spent mine on a Neumann!)
Same age as me but I look a lot better.
smug
Still, I guess he's had a *lot* more indulgence opportunities in his life.
Same age as me but I feel a lot older than he looks!!

So who owns it at the moment? I understood there were plans afoot to
use it as a museum of recording or something.
Unluess I have mis-skimmed this article, it appears to belong to EMI who
has debt problems and it's being hinted/alluded/suggested that the
studio is a victim of the Internet and 'digital' (distribution)...???
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/c...s-Beatles.html
With tourism being the only active industry left in this country, it
would make good sense to turn it into a temple to the Beatles with
souves, some fun rides, novelty rock and a visitor's shop/caff &...
Good idea, they could pass an act of parliament forcing Paul Mcartney to work
behind the counter at the cafe 7 days a week, might stop him making any more
dreadful recordings.

It's strange: to be a succesful composer it seems you either need to be a
bit of a knobber (see Subject) or die tragically young?
Reminds me of this one:
Q: What is the difference between Beethoven and Andrew Lloyd Webber?
A: Beethoven is a composer who farted a lot; Andrew Lloyd Webber is a fart
who composed a lot!
Boom boom!

He wasn't one of my favourite composers but OTOH he never did anything truly
dreadful, unlike McCartney who has to answer for 'Mull of Kintyre', possibly my
most loathed recording of all time...err no wait...maybe it was his Frog Song.

Or perhaps the likes of 'Yesterday', 'Here, there and Everywhere' to name
couple of the goodies from the repertoire.

When he was with the Beatles [hoho] he did some good stuff, after they split up
he was just another day.

In the early days, the Beatles were such tits in front of an interviewer's
microphone it is easy to underestimate just how good they were as a rock and
roll band, especially on other people's material - The Beatles Live At The
BBC (Disk 1) has some damn fine lesser-known trax on it:

I'd love to post some clips, but you know how it is with this sort of
material!

You are right with the pension, but he has had his bus pass and winter
heating allowance for two years.
I don't think AL-W will be too bothered either way.
He probably won't drive the Bentley into the Abbey
Road car park, but come by tube to St John's Wood
and then use a folding bicycle:-)
Just a thought, is the bus pass also valid on the tube?
Things like this need to be considered in these austere
times.

It's valid on pretty well all PT services in London and surrounds - buses,
tubes, overground railways, dockland railway, etc. Think it excludes night
buses, though. It also allows travel well outside London - for example to
Epsom Downs. So handy for a free day in the country. I use mine a great
deal. ;-)

Very punny, but I tend to agree :-)
