So who owns it at the moment? I understood there were plans afoot to use it
as a museum of recording or something.

Unluess I have mis-skimmed this article, it appears to belong to EMI who has
debt problems and it's being hinted/alluded/suggested that the studio is a
victim of the Internet and 'digital' (distribution)...???

With tourism being the only active industry left in this country, it would
make good sense to turn it into a temple to the Beatles with souves, some
fun rides, novelty rock and a visitor's shop/caff &...

Good idea, they could pass an act of parliament forcing Paul Mcartney to work
behind the counter at the cafe 7 days a week, might stop him making any more
dreadful recordings.

It's strange: to be a succesful composer it seems you either need to be a
bit of a knobber (see Subject) or die tragically young?

Reminds me of this one:

Q: What is the difference between Beethoven and Andrew Lloyd Webber?

A: Beethoven is a composer who farted a lot; Andrew Lloyd Webber is a fart
who composed a lot!

Boom boom!

:-)

He wasn't one of my favourite composers but OTOH he never did anything truly
dreadful, unlike McCartney who has to answer for 'Mull of Kintyre', possibly my
most loathed recording of all time...err no wait...maybe it was his Frog Song.
