OK. I can't comment on the Windows specific parts. But note that in general
'bit perfect' doesn't just mean "keeps 44.1k as 44.1k". It should also mean
the output rate always matches the source. So if you play a variety of CD
Audio and 48k files they should each output at the correct rate for the
individual file.
My own recent exprience with three soundcards was that I couldn't get *any*
of them to do that. So I bypassed the problem by using a USB DAC (Cambridge
Audio DACMagic).
That said if your only concern is playing CD Audio files the above won't
matter to you in practice.
