Don't know whether this is an entirely new topic as I've only been
lurking for a few weeks but since getting some half decent headphones,
I've started noticing annoying echoes in various pieces (no, not like
that time I inadvertently had the echo effect on in Audacious when I
listened to the Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin - you should try it ;-)
such as ( a good example)

http://www.raaga.com/player4/?id=776...10868666248922

which has a faint annoying echo in the right headphone.

I assume this is an actual echo from some surface in the recording
studio. At first I thought it might be a headphone problem but I could
just discern the echo in my old cheapo computer headphones, though not
on my cheap computer speakers.

Anyway, I'd be interested to read what all you erudite audiophiles have
to say about it - and please don't tell me it is my headphones after
all!

It is there. It was put there during the recording. You are listening
to a product of the Indian recording industry which has the same
approach to quality as Bollywood does in its film production.
Basically, you are listening to a piece of crap.

No, like Don says, it's ironed in the track unless my cheap (but good)

You either live with it (the singer is very good) or you get another version

Listing your computers is meaningless, you didn't know about YT
and updating Adobe Flash player, so no doubt you know nothing
about updating other areas of your pc's and laptops. Burners both
DVD and BD both need frequent updating with latest firmware so
as to iron out bugs etc, but importantly to increase compatibility
with the increasing range of blank media, same with standalone
burners. Ever noted that some blank discs work fine with your
burners but others not, all thats needed is a firmware update,
you didn't know that did you?
You don't list the specification, I doubt there is anything impressive
or uptodate on any of your computers, but if they work for you
thats what counts.

Samsung BDP
Sony BDP

The mighty Sony is not so mighty these days, though they will never
vanish. But you seem to have identical BD players from the TSST.corp
production line just each badged differently... Why?
And I suspect it's an odd's on certainty you never went to the TSST
site, clicked the support link, downloaded the accumulative firmware
update for each model, burned said firmware to CD following the
support instructions to use the R/C to access hidden service menu
and update said firmware, did you?

Sanyo telly
Sony telly

No details of your TV's, though I have a painful feeling you have
your identical BD players connected via scart to a couple of CRT's..

Acoustic Solutions DAB tuner (playing right now)

Sigh, DAB on an Argos sourced Accoustic solutions.....

I do apoligise in advance Keef, I'm not out to drive you into therapy,
but just a few questions for when you're not feeling stressed...

Why are you known as "Kitty"?

Computer updates seem to worry him also - they are ongoing, all the time,
automatic. Software updates - ongoing where it matters. Drives all working
perfectly well except the drive in the Acer L100 which has disappeared - all
covered by a Liteon flip-top USB DVD drive anyway.

Please feel free to ask any questions, but only about MY kit - surprisingly,

I've explained about 'ego-centric' and if you can't grasp the impossibility

If you don't want to take the risk of having people laugh at your flag,
don't run it up the pole!

And, believe it
or not, I really do find it tough to post about anything
here on somebody else's behalf, so you will have to learn
to live my so-called 'me-centricty' or do the other
thing.

You could contemplate what *other* people find interesting, Keith.

My posting here doesn't stop anyone else posting whatever
they like and, it goes without saying, anyone is
perfectly at liberty to ignore my posts if they don't
like them or even ****terise me. I couldn't care less
either way.

Except Keith, the whines and screams that assault our ears when people
reply to your posts frankly and honestly, tell a different story. You
care deeply.

Now, comms are still open, got an original thought we'd
be interested to hear - on topic, if you prefer?

As the old saying goes - you can take a horse to water, but you can't make
him drink. So go thirsty, if that's what you want do.

Dear oh dear, what a palaver!

New blood, new topics still urgently wanted....

With you Keith, its all about attitude. Yours. Crappy.
Me-centric.

My attitude is crappy and me-centric????

So much so that if you were smart or charming, your
posts could be a real treat. Eccentric is OK.
Ego-centric and willfully ignorant gets boring.

Thank you for that little run-down, I can see more
clearly now....

Except you don't.

I've explained about 'ego-centric' and if you can't grasp
the impossibility of me posting about and on behalf of
others I can't help you - the wilfully ignorant bit is
the one that makes me smile.

The idea of relevance seems to has escaped you, Keith.

Who TF are you (or anyone else here) to decide what
knowledge I (or anybody else here) will address/heed and
take on board?

General practical knowlege. Common sense. Respect for others. All places
you rarely go, Keith.

There's a small few here (3.5, actually)
who deem this newsgroup a form of 'captive clinic' which
exists for the purpose of them airing their knowledge and
for 'putting people right' whether or not they want it or
not. News for them....

Keith, there's only about 7 people posting here at any one time, so that
gives you a 50% failure rate.

(Have you no idea that this is the single biggest reason
people leave the group?)

Keith, as usual you've confused yourself with all people.

FYI, I am not the recalcitrant teenager (by some 50
years)

Well, there's physical age and mental age...

that refuses *to be told* that one or two here
seem to think and I am quite capable of deciding with
what I will bother my remaining brain cellls and what I
will not.

I've got no problems, there.

I am the first (and almost only) one to ask
when/if I need to know as well as being the first to
respond to any enquiry I can help with as my kind of
payback. What little pratting about with 'audio' I still
do is only a fraction of my hobbyist activities and my
knowledge intake (via recorded TV programmes) progresses
on a daily basis.

Enjoy!

(Struggling to see how I could improve my performance as
a human being, let alone as an active poster here....??)

Comms still open (and still waiting for an original
thought) but not for much longer if all you are going to
post is your never-ending condemnation of me and my
posts..??
Like, who TF needs it?

Actually Arny, I think we are fast approaching the 'say
the word' stage again....

I notice that while you are busy flapping your gums you manage to stop short
of this bit:

Actually Arny, I think we are fast approaching the 'say

One question, no make that two:

1) Why do you obsess about me?

2) What makes you think I care what you think?

Some people feel vulnerable on motorcycles; and many feel vulnerable on very
small bikes - here's me on a monkey bike, the other day:

How 'feeling vulnerable' do I look?

Take a good look at that old jiffer - do you really think he gives a ****

work silly, schoolboy mindgames?

Here's another clip about a week later:

For the benefit of the Lurkers, I would like to draw their attention to the
uk.rec.audio charter:

http://www.usenet.org.uk/uk.rec.audio.html

Unless I mistaken, I see the phrase 'hi-fi' mentioned no less than four
times in the first paragrah and it doesn't seem to mention anything else
much...??

Thus it makes this a *hobbyist* group in my book (and even Mr Plowman's - by
his own description above), especially as there are plento of 'pro' and
other specialist groups available.

So ignore the *trade types* leering about in here trying to impress and lets
be having those 'my Dansette/Mark Levinson is playing up' posts...!!

I don't know how many people are in the haboit of reading a group's charter
before posting, not many I'd guess.

I assumed when I joined that since it was called "uk.rec.*audio* it was
about "audio", not "HiFi".

Perhaps it needs either a new name or a new charter, since the present name
and charter are at odds with each other.

David.

Understandable, given the group's name; even more so when you see a constant
stream of posts putting ordinary, domestic 'hifi' down - 'Dixon's hi-fi' was
the last disparaging remark of only a few days ago that I recall...??

Perhaps it needs either a new name or a new charter, since the present
name and charter are at odds with each other.

No, it's much simpler than that: there's not enough UK-based 'audio' or
'hifi' interest to go round as it is and it shouldn't be beyond the wit of
anyone here to be able to succesfully combine the two - all it would take is
for a tiny few to stop try to block out anything other than intense
techy/electronic topics and treating the place like their private clinic.

I personally enjoy the 'non hifi' topics - recording studio stuff for
example and I prefer to see general traffic of interesting discussions
between forum members who are perhaps like-minded but have other related
interests to mention, rather than the forum go to waste with fortnight-long
silences. (As do 'others' when it suits them, but start shrieking 'OT' when
it starts to drift outside their own comfort zones....)

YMMV - all I know is if it slumps into silence again I'm off for good. I
don't do necrophila....
