Default Tandberg 3341 reel to reel

is this worth getting repaired do you think? I think electrically its OK,
but needs belts, clutch, and tlc I think, also the knobs are all going
brittle and falling off.

As a recording device, pretty much valueless. You can do a far better
job with your sound card.

As a thing of value, there is one on US Ebay right now. A reserve of
$69.95 and no bids.

Maybe a source of spares for some other device?

You'd need to check on Ebay etc to see if there's a demand for that model.
But I suspect it wouldn't be worth spending much on - and parts could well
be a problem.

As others have said, it would depend on what use you have for the recorder.

FWIW I have two Tandbergs of similar spec - both of which need some TLC
with their drive systems. I'm only keeping them in the vague hope that I'll
get around to fixing them to be able to play a stock of old reel tapes I
have.

Last I heard you could still get replacement parts and info. But I can't
recall where.

Slainte,

Jim

What about all the quarter track stereo tapes I made on it though. How to
reclaim the contents, assuming they have not got sticky tape syndrome.

Hello.

There are at least two options.
You can repair your Tandberg or you can buy another tape recorder that is in
full working order.
I would choose whichever option is cheaper.

Regards, Rog.

Something you should have done before the machine failed. ;-)

Bin them also or maybe getting a tape to CD service outfit to transfer them
for you might work out 'cost effective'?

(God, I hate those phrases!)
