Interesting that he is still well known/regarded in France. I doubt
many in the UK would recall/regard the name of the UK equivalent.
Presumably this is a sign of how the French continue to have a general
regard for science and technology which the British have sadly lost.
His name is closely associated with the Concorde programme. He is also a
reminder of how great France was ("and perhaps still is" I ask myself!)
The fact that he flew as a pilot in the Free French Air Force around the
end of WWII and later became a test pilot only adds to the legend. He
wrote his memoirs some years ago (in French only I'm afraid) which is
still widely available.
Thanks. I have a vague memory that Trubbie also was a pilot during WWII.
But I fear his name is largely forgotten in the UK.

Dashing photo, non?
Yes. French 'Joe Cool'. :-)
That said, you may be able to help me with one thing.
I have a copy of the takeoff/flight checklists for the flights. These
refer to intercom warnings, etc, given by named crew. But I don't now
recognise the names. Would these be identifiable? Two in particular
are Perrier and Guyonnet. I can't now recall if these would have been
flight crew or something else.
Hubert Guyonnet the "flying electronics engineer"
Pages in French only. Sorry....

Henri Perrier, flight engineer. He was to become Turcat's successor. He
was quizzed as part of the investigation in *that* fateful crash in
2000.....

Thanks for the above info. That makes sense. I guessed the person speaking
would have been someone like the flight engineer or copilot. But have
completely forgotten names. Too busy at such times frantically trying to
find out what wasn't working properly *now*!
When I get a chance I hope to put up another page 'photo archive' of the
plane, people, etc. If so, I'll mention it here and welcome any added info
to identify details I can't now recall. It is quite likely that the above
will be in some of the photos. As well as people from LASL, etc. I also
have a 'sequence' of stills of the eclipse flight takeoff, so just chose
the best examples for the main page.
The slides have survived fairly well. Kodak and Agfa 35mm, kept in a box in
a dark drawer may be why. But many have picked up marks and dust that I
have to spend time bodging if the result is to be examined closely! But
quite fun to look at these again and 'bring them back to life'.
Slainte,
Jim
