BTW, I sure wish IEC connectors were locking... :- )

Much safer for portable equipment to have a non locking cord as then if the
cord is tripped over then it detaches, minimising the risk of the equipment
falling from wherever it is and being damaged or injuring someone.

Hi all...

Got a new ISP and they actually have some decent newsgroup coverage, so
this is my first post here in probably a decade... HA!

Anyhow, just had a thought - does your gear over there use the same three
pin IEC connectors on the back? If so, what prevents anyone taking a US
110vac rig and sending it over to your side of the pond, and then
someone plugging in a nice
British 240vac (that's what it is?) line cord with a British mains plug and
the same IEC on the unit, and POWW!!!

Just curious...

Yep, pretty much a world-wide mains connector. I've seen a fair number
of pieces of test equipment blown up 'cause someone hadn't checked that
the 115-230V selector switch wasn't set correctly though.

They are an excellent connector - we use them for pro transportable gear
where they are frequently disconnected and re-connected and I can't
remember a breakage or failure.

The round chassis cutouts are very tempting! Where do you get the best price on
these? Andy
