I want to convert old cassette tapes to mp3. I have tried using Audacity
but the results were not good. I was told that Audacity is meant for
low-quality voice recording, but this gadget is said to produce
excellent results, even though it makes use of Audacity.
What advice can you give?
A) I don't use Audacity for recording, but... Saying that "Audacity is
meant for low quality voice recording" may confuse the container with the
contained. The quality of a recording will probably depend on the details
of the recording hardware involved. (Plus the care applied during
recording.) So a poor-quality 'PC' analogue input, for example, may make
lousy recordings which no software can then rescue.
B) I can't comment on the 'amazon' specific device. But given (A) you would
need a good cassette player and a good ADC. Then use them with due care.
C) If you really want *excellent* results, don't make them into 'mp3'. Use
a loss- free format like wave or flac.
