Screens don't come into it - it works correctly on one input but not on
another supposedly identically rated input.

Mains polarised? AC? Come on...............


It may be AC, but its not balanced, one wire will be closer to ground
than the other. Having said that, if the CDP has only two wires going
in, it will be isolated anyway (or should be).
