is it likely that Logitech will upgrade to allow the processing of
192Khz?
if not, do you know of a workaround

This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus
protection is active.
http://www.avast.com
Just out of curiousity, where is the setting for this? I use Avast
Free and it's never '****ed' my sig line over (OE6 and FreeAgent) yet
I see this **** on emails from my brother (and I set his winXP PC up
for him - maybe it's only when he's using his laptop that this ****
happens).
I've just had a look at the settings (and everywhere else where such
a setting might be hidden away) and can't find anything to do with
corrupting the sig file.
It's bull**** simply because the claim being made is totally bogus
whatever brand of AV protection is used.
The facility to disable the sig advert is in there somewhere. As you see,
I've done mine. However, I've just spent 10 minutes looking, and I didn't
find it. But I know it's there!
OK, right click the notification icon, select user interface, settings,
active protection, voila.
I can'y find a category called "Active Protection". I'm using the
free version and it's not the latest version.
The last time I allowed it to update to the current version it kept
corrupting the registry so I'm reluctant to let it do so without
making a backup image of the boot partition beforehand. Mind you, the
system is overdue such a backup so I'll take care of that a little bit
later before the (seemingly) SSD power off induced corruption[1]
strikes again.
[1] Black Screen of Death events with the fatal "License violation
error" have been a regular (roughly once every 30 days) occurrence
ever since I upgraded the MoBo/CPU/RAM and HDD to SSD over 3 1/2 years
ago.
Since swapping out the original 30GB Kingston for a 180GB intel SSD
about a year back didn't seem to stop these BkSODs (even including
feeding the SATA power connector from the 5vSB line to eliminate loss
of power during shutdown), I'm not so convinced that it has anything
to do with SSD power off induced corruption any more.
I'm guessing it's some strange problem with the MoBo chipset AHCI
drivers that must be behind all of this but none of my attempts at
driver updates or a completely fresh install from scratch a few months
after the original such install have made any difference to the
problem.
The only consolation is that it's only a matter of a minor
inconvenience when the "Oh ****! It's happened again! moment arises
and I have to spend the next 3 or 4 minutes restoring from the last
backup image. Basically, that's amounted to some four hours of my life
I won't be getting back over the last 3 1/2 years.
It's not a high price to pay but I never ever expected to be relying
on those backup images to this extent as I have over the past 3 1/2
years.
