Is there any way to fix a remote control where the conductive coating
has worn off the commonly used buttons?

Are replacement membranes available?
Or is conductive paint or film any good?

**Yes, to both questions. WRT conductive paint, be aware of three things:

* The stuff is expensive.
* Because it is expensive, and can only be used within a short period
after mixing, it is wise to repair several remotes simultaneously.
* Follow the directions to the letter.

You may be better off using a replacement remote from a third party
supplier, like Logitech.

Small circles of self-adhesive aluminium tape on the ex-conductive pads
are working well so far. 99p for a roll from the local hardware shop.
And LIDL had learning remotes quite cheaply the other week.

**I rarely repair remotes any longer. Third party replacements are good
and cheap.
