Thereby implying Brian, that once made aware of the problem, the BBC
engineers (or whoever they employ to maintain their network) were
well aware of their equipment paths and interconnections, knew
exactly where to look for the problem, and duly fixed it ...

No, they will have reported it to the Radio Desk at Arqiva Emley Moor
who will have sorted it. The BBC is just a buck passer these days.
