Well it says that they now require y you to download the software from the
web site. The trouble is, I've just spent a good half hour over there going around in circles. No sign of a nice obvious package to download with the drivers in it. The item is... Behringer UFO202 U There lots of variations to this basic unit from what I can tell, but following links to downloads seems to get me to pages with lists of all sorts of stuff on it but none of them matches what I put above, and even if it did, selecting from the list seems to throw me back out of the download pages. I suspect there is something inaccessible on that web site for the blind, so if anyone has the drivers that work for xp and 7, perhaps you could either publish a direct link to the download or perhaps a dropbox link to the ones you are using. I've been on the site with both FF and IE, but get the same run around. I'd wager there is some stupid graphic or snazzy download control which I cannot hear on their site! Info is quite vague on the instruction leaflet, but it suggests it has a cd with it, but none was sent as it seems to work when you plug it in. Or should I say not work. The output from the phone output sockets seems to be very low indeed so am I missing something here. I note it has an input switch which seems to allow a standard pick up to be used or line level signals. It also has an output for headphones with a volume, but surely the output from the phono out sockets should be at least as loud as the socket on the original internal sound card? Am I missing something vital?? I recently bought a toslink to phono adaptor that ran off USB volts (5v) And the output from that was low too. -- *I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it. Or just go to the behringer.com downloads page, type 'ufo202' into the 'Product' search box and select 'drivers' from the 'Type' menu. It comes up with ASIO4ALL_2_13_English.exe - not hidden at all. I used a UFO202 recently on W7 and the only difficulty was the bloody awful W7 mixer/volume control. It's not at all obvious how to choose the right device, disable the others and control the record level. -- Eiron. |

Well that is because you can see it. I have done exactly that and can find
nothing like what you suggest at all. Is it in some kind of pop up or flash object? OK I'll look later on. The problem seems to be the last stage as nothing
ever seems to come up if I do what the other message in this thread says. Remember that what may seem to be right in the middle for a sighted person could be anywhere on the page for a screenreader if the page has been ill designed or has some kind of javascript or flash/pop up embedded on it. I have encounterd some download sites using transparent flash, which will never be accessible t a blind user. In article: Brian-Gaff says... OK I'll look later on. Brian if the device you have is a Behringer U-Phono UFO202, then no drivers are needed for full functionality, the software mentioned is just a copy of Audacity and a couple of other freeware audio programs. From what the manual says and from my experience with one a couple of years ago, (which ended when I dropped and then stood on it.) then the audio output level pretty much mirrors the input level, if the output is low then so is the input. -- Ken O'Meara |

No the issue is that the screenreader I'm using is ok on the internal sound
card but is far below any usable level on the device and this goes for system sounds as well. It seems to me that there is no ability on the current control panel to alter all of this for the new hardware. I don't use Audacity aas I have a registered copy of Goldwave which I find works better for me. I had expected it to work like a cheap sound card I have from creative where when you plug it in, it downloads drivers and the just works. Sadly the creative is only really meant for output and only has a mono input. The Beringer surely should work the same way as its line level output. Obviously something is restricting it tht i cannot control. As has already been explained: The problem is probably with your OS or
choice of user software. The Behringer USB device doesn't have a USB control over its levels. It has no software "line level control" so far as I know. The one I tested showed no sign of one. Nor should any 'driver' be needed if your OS can cope with the standard USB Audio Class 1. But I have no idea if XP supports Class 1 because I don't use it. Someone else would have to comment on that. I used a UFO202 recently in Windows 7 - it worked perfectly at line levels.
Now I think about it, I probably didn't install ASIO4ALL and the only real problem was getting the mixer to select the correct device. The first time I tried it I was recording through the laptop's microphone instead of the UFO201's line-in. I'll try it again next week and make some notes. -- Eiron. |
