Do you know I think it sounded better than the modern stuff - just as
clean and detailed but somehow just smoother.

Yup. Always a favourite here. Sadly, haven't got a working one left.

I was happy enough with an early Marantz player that used the early Philips
14x4 chipset. Admittedly, I added another passive low-pass filter stage,
though. This was the days when Toko made good low-pass-filter modules you
could buy from Maplin, etc.

My all-time favourite CD player was actually a Meridian 200 series CD
transport feeding their 563 ADC. Alas, the deck does struggle with some CDs
so is a bit fussy. And the ADC can't cope with 96k/24, etc, (and has no USB
input) so isn't up to playing high rez files from a computer.

However that said, the player I was using recently developed a fault. So
I'm currently using my old Meridian 200 deck feeding a DAC Magic. Sounds
good to me.

At the risk of actually bringing this thread back on-topic... :-)

I've just put up a batch of 'new' items to the ukhhsoc website. These
examples being wrt Cambridge Audio, Jim Rogers, Meridian, and Transcriptors
items. Quite a mixed bunch! :-)

Alas, some of theses scans are a bit 'faded' but I don't have the paper
originals. But still interesting.

I've just added a lot of scans of 'Ferrograph' material onto the ukhhsoc
website. Anyone interested can find them via

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/ma...ers/index.html

They relate to Series 7, Y, Dolby, and Logic 7 machines.

Enjoy. :-)

Just to let people know I've continued to add materal to the website. This
morning I started sections on Dulci, Strathearn, REL, and Lentek. And added
items to the Cambridge Audio section. The top index is at

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/AudioDocs.html

I still have various items to scan and add, but more would be welcome. if
anyone can let us have paper documents (preferred) or good quality scans,
please see

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/upload.html

Enjoy! :-)

Just to update people. We're continuing to add items to the UKHHSoc
collection of audio documents. I'm currently adding material on SME. Just
put up various publicity photos and material yesterday, and have started
preparing some service manuals to add soon. Prior to the SME items, I'd
most recently added material to the Spendor section.

Following on from SME items I'll probably add more QUAD material which
someone who worked for them has kindly donated.

There are now around 4,000 items on the website.

Anyone interested can access the current public archive of documents via
the top level index at

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/AudioDocs.html

If anyone has any material they'd like to donate, etc, you can contact us
via

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/upload.html

Cheers,

Jim

Just started new sections on Albarry, BSR, Chord, Integrex, and Pink
Triangle in the 'Audio Documents' collection. As before the top level index
is at

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/AudioDocs.html

Alas, for some makers we only have a few documents, so more would be very
welcome. This is dispite my having a long 'queue' of items I have yet to
scan for other makes! Sadly, it seems much easier to find material for some
makes than for others. If anyone can provide documents we don't yet have,
please let me know - here or via

http://www.torrens.org.uk/ukhhsoc/upload.html

We have continued to build and add material to the UKHHSoc website. Most
recently we have been adding various publicity photos, etc, to the
Armstrong section of the Audio Documents collection.

The main reason for posting this message, though, is to let people know
that the UKHHSoc site now has a new web domain address.

The main page of the website is now accessible via

http://ukhhsoc.torrens.org

The top-level index page for the collection of documents is accessible from

http://ukhhsoc.torrens.org/AudioDocs.html

and the upload/contact page is at

http://ukhhsoc.torrens.org/upload.html

The previous addresses will, however continue to work for some time, but
should now redirect visitors to the new site.
