I was happy enough with an early Marantz player that used the early Philips
14x4 chipset. Admittedly, I added another passive low-pass filter stage,
though. This was the days when Toko made good low-pass-filter modules you
could buy from Maplin, etc.

My all-time favourite CD player was actually a Meridian 200 series CD
transport feeding their 563 ADC. Alas, the deck does struggle with some CDs
so is a bit fussy. And the ADC can't cope with 96k/24, etc, (and has no USB
input) so isn't up to playing high rez files from a computer.

However that said, the player I was using recently developed a fault. So
I'm currently using my old Meridian 200 deck feeding a DAC Magic. Sounds
good to me.

At the risk of actually bringing this thread back on-topic... :-)

I've just put up a batch of 'new' items to the ukhhsoc website. These
examples being wrt Cambridge Audio, Jim Rogers, Meridian, and Transcriptors
items. Quite a mixed bunch! :-)

Alas, some of theses scans are a bit 'faded' but I don't have the paper
originals. But still interesting.
