Thx

My concern was it's all very well being advised of traffic jams - but

what
if you don't know the area well enough to make a detour

Won't help - a good atles is the answer. All TM does is tell you of the

hold
up - things like "slow traffic for 2 miles" (that's the favourite) or
"stationary traffic for six miles, avoid."

Can't tell road numbers very well either. It will give the "A ten-seventy
nine" Ok for the York-Hull road, but the A1237 York northern by-pass comes
up as the "A one twenty three" and is then repeated as the "A two three
seven."
