I know its not "hi-fi", but could anyone recommend a decent Portable CD
"Ghettoblaster" system? Doesn't need a tape deck, but line-out for a
minidisc recorder is essential, as is decent FM reception, and acceptable
sound quality and volume. I guess I'm looking to spend around £100-£150...

OK, I'm thinking Sony here and Currys/Dixons/Comet has got to be your best
bet, if not Argos who do (still do?) a '16 day return if not ****ing your
pants with delight' on this sort of thing. (Argos very easily browsed
online, BTW.)

Do NOT get suckered into an extended guarantee or BS 'insurance scheme' -
that's how they make their money. (ie a 'ripoff')

Also (I hope you don't mind me saying this) don't 'apologise' for asking
about 'lo/mid fi' gear here - this is the UK's own general audio group.
Where else could you go - uk.rec.sheds?
