are looking for an 8000S?



Yep. It has all the features I want, and not the ones I don't (balance
and tone) - it's a natural upgrade for my 8000A. I like that amp very
much but it's sonically inferior.


apparently the pre-amp section of the S is much better than the pre-amp
in the A. I have heard both amps before, but haven't done an A/B comparison.


The 'S' also has remote control

I agree, the mode switching is a cool feature. It allows various
configurations (subwoofer, external Dolby processor) to be used without
the hassle of switching the inputs on the back each time you use the amp
in a different mode.

I wonder how Audiolab would have coped with the Home Theatre age if they
weren't bought out by Tag. Be interesting to see what IAG does with the
Audiolab brand.
