I think one clue is in your last sentence. You perceive yourself as "taking
insults". This is VERY close to "taking offence", which is an activity that
is entirely the responsibility of the person so doing ... as you well know!

Sorry, but I feel it's a shame that so much passion and intelligence is
wasted (or should I say spent?) in this manner! ;-)
