Default OT - Everything is perfect

Pinkie - Breakfast up, eh?
Mrs. P - Now, put that model aeroplane away and wash your hands. You look a bit
peaky, if I may say so. Have you been on that newsgroup again?
Pinkie - They just don't understand - I have to make them understand, it's my
mission. It's all about acoustical transparency. They just don't see that in
2004 everything is perfect from mic to speaker. It's all perfect. Perfect.
Mrs. P - That man with the frogs, you mean? Has he been annoying you again?
Pinkie - Everything has been solved. Amplifiers all sound the same. It's all
acoustically transparent from start to finish. From start to finish -
acoustically transparent.
Mrs. P - You've got some egg on your face, just under your left nostril. No the
other side - that's your right nostril. There. That's better.
Pinkie - Jim's got the right idea - data, data, data - everything is data.
Mrs. P - Ooh look! There's a robin on the lawn. My God - there's a cat after
it!
Pinkie - In the intimacy of our own home, dearest, you may call me "My Hero"!
Mrs. P - Ah that's better, the cat's gone away.
Pinkie - They just don't understand me - my passion, my leadership qualities,
my importance in the scheme of things. If they'd been there when I won the
Second World War single handed with my Spitfire they'd know they were dealing
with a real man. They're wimps, all wimps.
Mrs. P - wash your hands and I'll come and help you with the crossword when
I've done the washing up.
(to be continued…)

Andy, that was a hoot and right on the money - if you meant to infer Pinky's
Spitfire was only about 6 inches long, that is! (He plays with 'model
planes' apparently!! :-) The amusing thing is that one or two of us have
imbued him (offlist) in the past with a 'fat, psychotic wife' and, I have to
say, it's kinda ****ed up my enjoyment of the PF 'The Wall' DVDV that I've
got!! :-)

Anyway, I think I'm about done with the clown and it would be good (but not
*vital*....) to know that one or two others have also finally got fed up
with his never-ending bull****. The very idea that valves and vinyl have no
place in an 'audio' newsgroup simply beggars belief. The suggestion that
anyone in the UK who enjoys/uses either or both should **** off to a
predominently US-centric group to discuss valves is the kind of towering
arrogance that, frankly, saddens me to see go unchallenged here for so much
of the time. Best of all is that the suggestion that valve (and/or vinyl)
users perform some public Act Of Contrition and 'admit their heresy' and all
will be forgiven and they will be 'permitted' to discuss either topic if the
'follow the rules'!!! Fekkin' priceless!!!

Every hobbyist group or organisation has got a **** like Pinky - when I got
into pistol shooting a few years ago, there was a dip**** called 'Prof' (wot
else?) who could yap anyone off the table with his 'knowledge' - muzzle
velocities, trajectories, terminal velocities, muzzle energy, terminal
energy, copper units of pressure, bullet weights, etc. etc. Guess what? -
He wouldn't have been able to hit the side of a barn if he was standing
inside it! (I don't know how many times I have been reminded of that ****!)

There are 3 things mentioned in the Charter for this group as 'off limits':

Measurements vs. 'listening' arguments.

Valves vs. solid state arguments.

Analogue vs. 'digital' arguments.

Guess who's got nothing else in his 'armoury'....??

Guess who *never* makes an original/interesting statement or posts anything
other than 'replies'....??

Need I say more?

;-)

Hello Keith - no satire was intended, of course - just a poignant social
documantary on the metaphor of emotional vs rational thinking. Andy

Now would be a very good time to walk away from that argument,
Garratt.

Unfortunately, you'll find that rational folks understand that the
bull**** comes from a quite different origin..............

Why would it *not* go unchallenged? And what is 'US-centric' about
amplifier design? Don't you guys all bow down before Western Electric
toobs?

Best of all is that the suggestion that valve (and/or vinyl)
users perform some public Act Of Contrition and 'admit their heresy' and all
will be forgiven and they will be 'permitted' to discuss either topic if the
'follow the rules'!!! Fekkin' priceless!!!

If you wouldn't keep trying to pretend that valves somehow retain
something that is lost with SS, that would be a start.

Every hobbyist group or organisation has got a **** like Pinky - when I got

Actually, the best pistol shot I ever met was a surgeon in Tucson,
Arizona. He favoured the Colt 1911, and the club had a target on the
wall which he had shot. At 25 yards, he had clipped out a perfect 6"
circle with a .45 ACP deckled edge! Interesting guy, always shot in
bare feet for better stability. I always wondered if he'd shout "halt"
to a real opponent, while he took off his shoes...............

There are 3 things mentioned in the Charter for this group as 'off limits':

Measurements vs. 'listening' arguments.

Valves vs. solid state arguments.

Analogue vs. 'digital' arguments.

Guess who's got nothing else in his 'armoury'....??

That would be you, would it not? I always use listening tests as the
final arbiter of excellence, I always acknowledge that there are a few
excellent valve amps around, and I like the sound of analogue
artifacts, while understanding that they *are* artifacts. Got any
*real* arguments to offer, just this once?

Guess who *never* makes an original/interesting statement or posts anything
other than 'replies'....??

Need I say more?

How about something with some substance?

Really? Why is that then, Pinkerton?

Thankfully, it looks like it is being challenged by one or two who haven't
just 'binned' you out of hand as so many do.

Apology accepted. But at 6'3" and 13 stone dripping wet, my fingers
aren't exactly pudgy! Old and wrinkly, certainly.... :-(

Of course, we understand that you have never heard speakers as good as
Apogee Duetta Signatures, so we'll just look at your own speakers and
chuckle about that one...............

OTOH, they're fekkin' *big*, I grant you!

Yes indeed - check any mirror, assuming that some in your house remain
uncracked.................

I see no rational challenges being made. Others, of course, simply
can't handle the truth.

And what is 'US-centric' about
amplifier design?

*Group* twister - 'US-centric *group*' as above....

Yes, it's a group about tube amplification. Why is that 'US-centric'?,
when the same devices are available everywhere? Do you consider
rec-audio.high-end to be 'US-centric'? Good sound is good sound,
whether in Boston Lincs or Boston MA.

Don't you guys all bow down before Western Electric
toobs?

Apology? Wot apology?

I don't doubt it would make you happy (deserately so) to twist an 'apology'
out of my words, but let me assure you no 'apology' to *you* was implied - I
merely didn't want to implicate your wife in the *excellent* image of a
Scottish Gob****e bully-boy as prtrayed by Pink Floyd, like I said.

I'll give you another little 'get-out' - let's say the fat and psychotic
female in your life is that big bird at work you are so obviously scared of,
eh? (Clue: When pricks like you start chucking phrases like 'pussy-whipped'
about, you are telling us more about yourself than your 'CV' ever will....
;-)

Now STFU unless you blag yourself into hole you can't get out of.

But at 6'3" and 13 stone dripping wet, my fingers
aren't exactly pudgy! Old and wrinkly, certainly.... :-(

Woss all this crap - are you trying to *intimidate* me or summat??? :-))

Lemme help you out here - I'm 5 inches shorter than you, weigh a tad more
than 13 stone and I ain't pudgy *anywhere*, OK??

OK, now that I've remembered it, I'll relieve you of the task of coming up
with some humour to alleviate the situation (your SOP...): A month or few
ago, I was watching LOTR on my son's (then) newly-acquired projector - the
'Helm's Deep' (?) battle scene where the old fart with the bow ****s out and
accidentally looses of the the first arrow that sparked off the battle.
After a minute or two, I said 'Oh dear, anybody in LOTR remind you of me?'
Quick as a flash, my son (*not* given to complimenting anyone much) said
'Gimli'....!!

Now, will that do you....??

;-)

rest of the crap snipped
