...so it must be true!
On the telly, earlier this evening, Paul Gambaccini was reported as
having said he thought the 7" vinyl single could outlive the CD!!
Purely by co-incidence I just put up this page...
http://www.st-and.demon.co.uk/AudioM...ndLPsales.html
If you wish to comment on 7" sales, then you might also like to
consider those for 12" singles as well. :-)
Is that music shipped or bought, and does it include independents?
ahem I draw your attention to the last couple of paragraphs on the above
webpage. :-)
From what I understand, the figures are for items sold, with 'returns'
subtracted. I also suspect that the meaning of 'DVD music' differs for the
BPI and RIAA figures. But I am simply presenting the figures 'as given'
since I have no way to assess how accurately the portray the actual market.
Thought that at least that way people could see them, and make of them what
they will.
What I found interesting was that the UK figures for 12" seemed to be
falling as those for 7" were rising, and that although magazines, etc, were
reporting the figures for 7" sales rising, no-one had mentioned the fall
for 12" sales. It gave me the impression that those who had been buying 12"
singles were changing to 7" for some reason,. But I have no other info
which relates to this, so I have no idea if the same people are involved,
or not.
Slainte,
Jim
