Not enough information. Ideally we would need to know if the inputs on the
amp were all reduced. Were you accidentally listening to the radio via
freeview?

Also if not and the radio was all that was affected, what channel was it and
were others affected as well.
These answers would make the problem less mysterious I feel.

Two things happen with my bedroom setup smack on 3 am: The standby light
on my little digital telly starts flashing to denote that it is
downloading the EPG and at exactly the same moment my FM tuner/hifi amp
goes very quiet (but not completely silent). It goes back up to normal
