Tandberg 3341 reel to reel

Now look here, I have not had the ability to do it before, but as there is
so much interest in retro stuff these days, this was why I asked.
Lets take another tack here.
The EQ of Tandbergs tended to be different to other machines for some
reasons. I used to have a Sony machine as well and the tapes from that
sounded dull on the Tandberg when it was working.
Its not just head alignment in my view. So if I get a refurbed reell deck
of some sort and use it, am I going to find similar problems or more I
wonder. Has anyone ever done this. Interestingly, i see people seem to
have half track stereo decks still but not the quarter track ones.
My first "serious" tape deck was a Tandberg (the 3041X, not the 3341X, but
there's little difference) and I don't recognise your statement about EQ.
Could it have been your Sony that was "different"?
I still have my Tandberg, it has all the same problems that yours does but
I can't quite bring myself to bin it. However I also have a Technics
four-channel machine which does work and that plays back tapes recorded on
the Tandberg just fine.
