Default Input Voltages?

Hi

I have the Nakamichi CD45z head connected to a JL Audio 300/4 and a 500/1
sub-amp. The inputs on the amps are switchable from 200mV-2V RMS to

800mV-8V
RMS and the Nak has 4v (is this max or RMS?) outputs. Currently I have

them
set to the higher voltage input; is this the correct setting for the

output
of the CD45, bearing in mind the amps specified input voltage is RMS and

the
CD45z does not state whether max or RMS?

Is the amp starting to clip when the volume knob is about 2/3 to 3/4 the way
up? If so, then it's set correctly.
