Default Thorens TD160 motor replacement?

I wonder if the local vinyl cognoscenti might be able to help here?
A friend left his TD160 with shot motor bearings with me a while ago.
Thorens USA wanted USD$160 for a replacement motor, which just seemed so
absurd given it's squitty size, and the ~double exchange rate in NZ, that
I didn't bother following it up. Has anyone any idea for a replacement?
My friend is wondering why such an apparently simple fault takes so long!
He's now pressing for its return, and I'd like to be able to find a
solution for him. I wonder if there are any generic replacements, or a
more reasonably priced parts source that someone knows of?
The correct belt would be handy, too - maybe a tight belt caused this.

Buy a TD-160 on ebay and just have the motor shipped out to you - easy
