One of the prettiest sports cars ever built, but should *definitely*
be left on the drive to be admired in the summer sunshine, while you
take the Elise for a spin.................
I know it's called a hairdresser's car, but the MX5 is the modern
interpretation of what the original British sports car tried to be -
inexpensive but fun to drive and usable everyday. The Elise is strictly a
weekend fun car.
Funny you should say that, because I originally put 'MX-5' in the
post, then changed it to the Elise, because the MX-5 just *isn't* an
Elan, even though it tried to be. BTW, unlike Lotuses of old, the
Elise is perfectly useable every day, it's just not as *convenient* as
a Fiesta.

Hmm. The 3.8 had a sweeter engine, but was ruined by that dreadful old
Moss box. The Jag all synchro one was a *vast* improvement. As was the
build quality of the 4.2 - not that that's saying much.
Nicely put, and dead on the money. Beautiful to look at (and listen
to), but *always* a rust-bucket, and even the last of the V12s were
thrown together by headless monkeys.............

Not a patch on the MGA with 2lt (?) TOHC engine, preferably in bright
red......
1600cc, and seldom ran 1,000 miles between breakdowns...........
BTW, I know it's all in the eye of the beholder, but I always thought
it dog-ugly, and not a patch on the original MGB (wire wheels and
chrome bumpers).

If you'd been skilled as well as careful, you'd have been designing
and building solid-state amplifiers! :-)
Instead of working in, say, a bank?
Probably, but since I've never worked in a bank, I wouldn't know.....
Okay, a bank's datacentre then!
Wrong again, it's called an OMC..........
But then I guess you're used to being wrong!
But I'm not wrong am I Pinky?
It's an Output Management Centre, i.e. we do all the printed output
for customers, plus CDs, tapes and electronic data feeds. The data
centres are somewhat different, and are scattered for security and
redundancy.
Fascinating.........
However, this has sod all to do with audio.
Agreed, but then what's new?
;-)

So,
I'm actually listening to pleasureable distortion. Possibly 10% of

I cannot argue with silicon people because unfortunately they are

I, for one, wouldn't dream of telling you your system is crap. Others
may
go by brands, but I prefer to hear things before judging. And if you
say
you like the sound of what you have that's all that matters.
But if you'd said - with the usual flowery language - just how much
better your valves and vinyl sounded to any digital, that would be
different and invites argument.
It tends to be the same here all the time - the flames start when

Quite so.
Suck on this then - AFAIAC, my valves and vinyl **** on any digital music
I
have ever heard including a £3K CDP. - Better resolution, better tone,
more
'life', better soundstaging, better in every other respect and all well
within the range of my hearing.........
Oops, should have said beyond my range of hearing....
You have the right to be wrong................... :-)
So do you......
Personal preferences are just fine,
That's awfully *big* of you.
just don't try to justify them

a) When have I ever? b) Are you presuming to 'instruct' me.......?
As Dave said.

I note the snippage where I referenced you referring to it as a "data
and printing centre".
So that actually makes me right doesn't it?
Only half right at best, and that would depend on you taking my word
for it! Ain't life complicated? :-)
Besides, this has sod all to do with audio.
