HRYK ... although EAC does have some issues w/ support for recent
drives, and may also require some configuration tweaking to work
correctly (or work at all!) on some Win2K or WinXP systems. Having
said that, for bit-perfect extraction from audio CDs on Windoze PCs,
EAC is by far the best tool available (and all it costs is a postcard
to its author!)

I find the interface a lot more pleasing than Audiograbber's, and
haven't experienced any of the configuration tweaks you speak of. For
ripping "copy protected" "CDs", however, one has to switch to burst mode.

CDParanoia is better still. Or on windows I prefer CDex.

I like audiograbber though. The line-in sampling is user friendly and good
for making quick samples of analog sources.

IIRC, CDParanoia is the base for EAC. Haven't used CDex.

I find it quicker to fire up a terminal and type "sox -t ossdsp -r48000
-c2 -t wav -r48000 -c2 | lame --alt-preset standard - destination.mp3"

I have also found Audiograbber's timed recording to be unreliable; a
cron job to fire off the above command (and another to kill it), IMHO,
is better.
