Just my 2p.
Interestingly that's about all any of your 5 star reviewed cables
are
worth. If you genuinely believe a cable can entirely change the
tonal
quality of a hifi system you've either got too much time on your
hands
or are letting magazines tell you lies.
Not at all, just read what 1000's of people on AudioReview.com are
saying.
Just because 1000's of people are similarly deluded by snake oil doesn't
mean
they are right.
Remember there are 1,000,000's of other people NOT posting on
audioreview.com.
Yes that's right. In fact, most people are not Atomic Physicists, which
therefore means that atomic physics is just imaginary.

Even Atomic Physicists would know that a very small section of any
particular group would not be representative of what the whole group
thinks.
Of 10 people 2 may speak out and say how wonderful, for example, SVS
subwoofers are, there may be 7 out of the ten who think they are crap.
I'll let you and your physicists work out the rest of it....
What I and my physicists have worked out is as follows:
No-one is talking about the merits of a particular product, as per the SVS
example you are cited.
The discussion is centred on whether or not the quality of a particular type
of product, i.e. cables, has any merit.
The benefits of using any particular component are in no way related to the
percentage of music listeners who own them or would like to own them.

As would 9 out of every 10 mention that the PDR-10 is a boom box.

Your assertion that just because a small unrepresentative number of
enthusiasts...
The benefits of using any particular component are in no way related to
the
percentage of music listeners who own them or would like to own them.
...think they work is also immaterial.
What doesn't seem to make sense though is your own pointer to what
"1000s" of people say, then follow up with the diametrically opposed
statement above.
So to sum up your point of view:
"Anything anybody might say or believe about anything is immaterial, because
there are always more people on the planet who haven't confirmed that
belief."
Most helpful indeed.

Well you havem and I have. That makes 2. Not much evidence of the other
7 eh?
Then again you were always swayed by unimportant numbers weren't you?
I've just realised. We're being trolled.

No that doesn't sum up my view or even my assertion.
People can (and should) believe what they want. What they shouldn't do
(necessarily) is change that belief based on the thoughts of an
unrepresentative minority group.
Most helpful indeed.
The most helpful advice I can give you (after 30 years of buying hifi)
is believe no-one, only believe your own ears.
If you believe a reasonably designed cable will change the sound of a
hifi system then feel free to do so with my blessing. If your ears tell
you that what you believe is true, then go for it. Just don't suggest
that the same thing will happen with someone else's ears.
We're agreed then. Listen to the product.
Forget the design, forget the cost. If it sounds good to you, it's worth it.

I'd say #1 was what I meant.
The personal nature of your comments are what led me to this conclusion.

This is how I always 'discuss', whether on Usenet or IRL. If I think
you're a jerk I will say so, if I think you are the best thing since
sliced bread I will say so.
Yes it is. No it's not. etc etc...
