Try bluetak, make it pliable 'playing with it first' (the bluetack that is)
then gently put over the dimple, a quick pull should restore the foil back
if your lucky!

I just got a second hand pair of speakers off Ebay. They seem to work

Obvious question, anyone know of clever way to pull it out again?

Thanks to everyone who has emailed me and answered on the newsgroup.

I have tried the vacuum cleaner carefully and it has largely pulled the
dome back out. There are now 4 small dimples on an otherwise normal

dome.

Yup, that's how it goes!

Do you all think these imperfections in the dome will have a serious
effect

No

or can I consider it job done?

Yes.

Unless of course someone can suggest
a way to get the dimples out as well.

If it bothers you (bothered me enough to reject a pair of very

barginacious
Dynaudio Contour 1.1s, I might add....!!) you could try warming the domes
gently with a hairdryer* and approach them *very carefully* with the

vacuum
cleaner again. (On second thoughts - just live with it!)

* If you don't have/use a hairdryer there's plenty here who do (I'm

certain
of it) - mebbe one of 'em will lend you one?

;-)

its not foil, it is or was a rather rigid (relative term) plastic. Sucking
works on these types, usually.
If you are concerned, then replace with cheap Audax soft dome units, much
better sound, IMHO.
I had a few pairs of T27's, but replaced them with Celestion HF1300 / STC
4001 units, but I still like the Audax units, mounted in polystyrene
spheres.

I take it that you mean replace the whole of the T27s with Audax units?

For a moment I wondered whether you had found a way of replacing just
the dome sections with an Audax replacement?

maybe they were OK in their day, but that is long gone, there are, IMHO,
much better ones around for under £15 a piece.
They did sound better if coupled to a KEF B110, and an acoustic butterworth
crossover, but even the bextrene cone of the B110 is bettered easily today,
however, there are some around that still swear by the BBC LS3/5, which used
both drive units and a very complex crossover, which really did nothing for
the sound.
I much prefered the Harbeth P3 monitor, a cracking little unit.
cheers
Bryan
