They're here.....!!!
Well, summer's officially here at last (ignore the weather, it's just a
glitch) - tonite is the First Night Of The Proms! So all of you who like pop music and have systems good enough can tune in and enjoy the experience of a 'real live event' without the hassle and expense of actually attending it!! ;-) (Although I have to say it, if my kit sounded as bad as the PA'd 'live' event that I experienced at the RAH a few weeks back it would be out on the back lawn in a heap, by now......) |

And hopefully on DAB (T_DAB, T_DVB and S-DVB) it will be broadcast uncompressed. I know a load of broadcasts from there sound pretty dire, but the Beeb do seem to pull the stops out for the proms. d Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

I know what you mean. A few years back I wnet to an open air classical concert at a nearby country house, expecting to treat my ears to real live instruments. I was gob smacked to see the entire orchestra mic up ( with what looked like SM58s) and fed to an atrocious pair of bass bins and horns on either side of the stage. it sounded absolutely awful. What a waste. Ian |

Incredible! I think so - too dim-witted to be paying attention the other day! I think it was on the radio (in the background, not listening too closely - organ music is commonplace in this household as I can't get enough of it) and then I heard an announcement mentioning something about the restoration being finished! If the Prom is opening with Bach's Toc & Fug on it we all need to be in our seats a bit sharpish! (And me getting truly ****e FM reception today!!!) |

I'm glad I made my mega subwoofer a few months ago. Not one of those honking tuned port jobs, but a seriously low Fs driver in a huge (concrete cupboard) sealed box. This is what I made it for. d Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |
