Any advice or pointers on a sub-woofer to compliment a pair of Quad
11Ls?

This is for musical use, not home theatre.

Handy with woodworking tools?

I'm agonising as to whether it' worth the effort to build one of these (SW2
or SW3) for HT use:

http://www.iplacoustics.co.uk/INDEX.htm

Nice chat with Ivan Leslie who claims these units are easily the equal of
commercial products costing 3 times the price (ie up there with top o' the
line RELs) and are a doddle to build....??

I've mislaid me bit of paper with the 'all inclusive' prices on, but I think
the *complete* kits (including sufficient iron-on, real wood veneer) work
out at about £276 for the SW2 and $340 for the SW3. There's a constant
stream of subs on eBay at nice prices but I suspect a lot of 'em are just
crap - I auditioned a Mission M3as at £200 a day or two back and I didn't
think much of it. (I don't want a ported sub...)

Me bit of paper's turned up, the 'all inclusive' prices for these kits are
actually as follows:

SW2 - £294.20

SW3 - £340.40

Also, I'm told they are pretty much the same in terms of bass extension, FR,
power output etc. - the advantage/point of the SW3 is that it will provide
more 'volume' for larger rooms....

Funnily enough I have actually built one of these ... the SW2.

It was easy enough and sounded great ... it's just that I'm now based
in the US.

But you're right ... they have woodworking toold here too :-)

Thank you ... spelling is an obsession with me too ... point taken :-)

I take it you're recommending a Rel?

Quad have a sub woofer in the pipeline for the L range. Not sure how long
we'll have to wait though...... Apparently it's in the workshop being
tweaked? Anyone know anything more about this?
