My speakers go very low but I'm not happy that the amp is delivering the '.1' stuff to them, especially as we don't use a centre speaker. I want a sub just to pull these frequencies off (ie tell the amp there *is* a sub) - now, is anybody going to tell me I've got that all screwed up?? If you set the processor to 'no sub', the .1 LFE signal should be fed to the 'large' speakers. It doesn't matter if you're using a phantom centre. Have you had a hard day or summat? Nope, I simply read your statement to mean that you weren't *convinced* that your amp was delivering the .1 signal to the fronts, not that you were concerned about overloading the fronts. You're the one with comprehension problems, sunshine - read it again, I think you missed the second word 'that' in the above...... Did you ever get to secondary school? Yep, I can live with just about all that..... In my view, enjoying music isn't restricted to enjoying (an accurate replication of) a live musical event - that's just one aspect of enjoying music. I don't neccessarily feel the need to imagine a bunch of musicians and a particular hall to enjoy it, in the audience, as it were. The live accuracy thing implies that music = something that you go to a concert to hear - but that isn't a defining characteristic of music. Music isn't about bands and halls, it's a thing in and of itself. It can be enjoyed in the abstract without the need for a conceptual grounding in something like a live concert. There's plenty of music that doesn't need super-accurate fidelity to be enjoyed - I like deep, smooth bass, and plenty of it, and I don't care if the artist or producer intended it to sound otherwise. Accuracy is irrelevant. -- Wally www.artbywally.com www.wally.myby.co.uk |

But it is the music that counts (and the memories associated with them) I don't include the memories as a particularly key aspect. When music instills memories for me, the memories seem to be of when I was listening to a piece years ago - I get the same buzz or feel from the music. Whatever else was happening in my life at the time doesn't enter into it. -- Wally www.artbywally.com www.wally.myby.co.uk |

I also like deep smooth bass. However, I do feel accuracy is important - at least then you know you are adjusting things from a common reference - which makes it easy to get your preferences met on any equipment you have available. |
