Default Connecting media pc to av amp

I am thinking of replacing my entire HiFi system apart from the Mission
783s, rather than going the traditional route I'd like to get a media pc
with tv tuner, dvd player and etc. then a decent AV integrated amp.

The question is this; is it possible to make a direct digital connection
from the pc dvd/cd drive to the av amp and use the amp's DAC? If so what
will the sound quality be like compared to a dedicated DVD/CD player
connected to the same amp?

I have searched google to see if this has been covered with no luck.

Yes it is, and as long as the digital output from the PC is relatively
free of jitter, the sound will be good.

if the PC output has less jitter than the CD player, the sound will be
better.

The digital out from the back of the CD drive is a logic-level version
of SPDIF. There's plenty of info on the web to show you the attenuator
and connection required to feed a normal co-ax SPDIF input on a DAC.
