Bugger, don't say that - I'm kinda hoping to get it for nowt (by way of compensation) so I can rebuild it. The cabinet's only plastic-coated, half-inch Weetabix but it weighs 14 kgs, the driver looks good and stiff and the control panel's got more connectivity and adjustments than an AV amp!!! |

It's probably worth a shot (provided you count the work as leisure time and not-for-profit!). The plate amp is almost definitely worth hanging on to, and if you can find out what kind of driver is in there you may even be able to improve on the original cabinet. Shout when you know what driver it is - if it's anything well known, someone can probably find the Small Thiele parameters for it and come up with a sane cabinet design. -- Regards, Glenn Booth |

OK, will do - I'm in a strange position with this sub, I'm not sure a replacement would be as attractive as just calling it a pile of dead cheap bits and 'having a go' with it! The dilemma is that I will have to so summat pretty sharpish - we need the sub on the HT!! (See previous post about peeling the LFE off the fronts...) I wonder if it's possible to change it to a sealed box design if I do get into butchering it? At 60 quid, I suppose its quite likely the components are actually ****e and might not be up to it??? (150W - 80W RMS) Also, a TL design would be *something*, wouldn't it....??? :-) |
