oups.com...
I am a young musician and as part of my hobby do a lot of stuff on the
PC, computer speaker systems just weren't cutting it for me...
Earlier this year I decided to invest in a better soundcard (mainly for
recording purposes) and some hi-fi equipment, I got a Marantz SR7300 AV
receiver, Dynaudio Audience 42s and other bits like a projector, which
is irrelevant.
At the moment I'm using the digital output from my soundcard into the
receiver, so I play all my CDs through this, however, I would
eventually like to get a CD/DVD-A disc player. What I am curious about
though is turntables...
I don't have a clue about turntables, all is what I know is that I'd
need a turntable and a pre-amp as my receiver doesn't have RIAA
filters. What should I know/be looking for when deciding on purchasing
a turntable or pre-amp?
Smart money seems to be on a Project at around 120UKP and they do one that
amplifies the output sufficient for a line in on your AV amp. OTOH you can
pay many times that amount, paysyermoney etc. See:

Another question, what subwoofer/s would you recommend for the Audience
42s?
No first hand experience of this. I have 42s connected to my computer and
have no need for a sub. I was looking at the Adire range - seem to be
incredible VFM - during a moment of weakness (which I'll doubtless revisit).
If you do get a sub I'd suggest looking carefully at where you put the
turntable - wall shelf may ne necessary.
