Default Help,my speaker is dying.

I need some advice about my speakers please, I bought a set of quad 12L's
last December and all seemed fine but over the course of 8 months the
tweeter on the left channel was developing a crackle which eventually lead
to it cutting in and out. I sent them to quad servicing who said "Contacts
loose on crossover caused intermittent bass and treble" and promptly sorted
it free of charge. Once I got them back everything was ok for the first to
weeks but after that the crackle was back!! I've tried different speaker
cables to make sure its not them swapped the speakers round and the crackle
went from the left to the right so its definitely the speaker. Anyone got
any ideas what's going on or should I try and return them to quad before my
year warranty is up?

Yes.

Thanks for the reply I was leaning towards that route, lose crossover I
wonder how that got past quad inspection, somehow I think this set of
speakers was doomed from the start.

Yes send them back

Call them but ask to speak to Rob Flain Service Manager, also did you pay
delivery charge?

Ask them to arrange pick up, they use Business Post, they would collect and
bill Quad

Call 01480 452561 not any other number you have ;-)

It may also be worth contacting the dealer who sold them to you. If they are
local and it's simply a loose connection on the crossover then, chances are,
this could be fixed while you waited. Might be preferable to shipping it
back and forward and would be speedier (providing the fault is that simple
and the dealer is willing).

Absolutely, that's what warranties are for. Contact your dealer as well
as Quad right away.

Hassle for the postage and you'll get it, I'm sure. I'm pleased Dave came up
with the goods for you.
