Has anyone heard this new AVI product? Obviously I have read the
reviews, however I am curious as to whether anyone here has actually
auditioned the amplifier concerned in person.

I have now auditioned this product, at Doug Brady Hi-Fi in Warringon.
I was fortunate to be able to hear it partnered with the Meridian 507
CD player and a pair of B&W Nautilus 805 loudspeakers, which mirror
my own Meridian 507 and B&W Matrix 805V combination quite nicely.

The amplifier is very powerful, and clear without sounding restrained.
Bass in particular seems much more controlled than is the case with
my existing AVI S2000MI integrated, however this may be in some way
related to the difference in loudspeakers.

The most remarkable thing is that I have experienced something that
is new to me, despite many years of auditioning audio equipment.
The three main songs I listened to in detail during the audition
(Industrial Disease by Dire Straits, Haiitian Divorce by Steely Dan
and Big Man Mambo by Robert Lucas) have been rolling through my mind
fairly constantly ever since.

That tends to suggest to me that the amplifier's ability to communicate
the musical message is without equal. Do I want one? Absolutely.
An order should be placed fairly shortly.
