AIUI you don't need 2 firewalls - the hardware router is enough.
Yes, there are a number of ways to do it I gather. AFAIK the router is no
more than a switchbox and has no inherent capability for firewalls etc.
(No
idea really - I haven't read a word of the manual, as usual!! ;-)
If your router has NAT (your PC will have an IP address starting
192.168......) then it is very good protection against attacks from
the outside.
OK, the IP addresses certainly do start with those numbers.
It does nothing, though for anything nasty you have
inadvertently put on your hard drive, and which is calling home
without your knowledge.
I run Zone Alarm on each of the machines which tells me when anything wants
to access the Internet and I get the opportunity to allow/deny access. Also
each machine runs AVG antivirus software - what more can you do?
No 'serious' information like Bank Account or Credit Card numbers are stored
on the machines (I hope), the only sensitive information might be on the
machines somewhere is that to do with eBay and Paypal....
Back on topic: The tools, wood, glue and screws are in hand and I've just
spoken to Terry at Wilmslow Audio - the horn speaker project *starts* as
soon as I've had a bit of lunch!
(One week's delay due to buggering about networking the computers and
clearing out/flogging off a few bits and pieces of spare kit! :-)
Sorry - I missed something. What horn speaker is this?

Mmmm.....
This isn't *really* a horn is it? Primary radiation comes straight off
the front of the cone, not through the horn. And the horn channel
itself is heavily damped with wedges of padding. In a horn, that would
be completely empty for maximum sound transfer. That makes it
something more like a tapered transmission line loading - it doesn't
seem to have horn efficiency, although maybe it is just a little
higher than reflex.
Does any theory concerning horn loading come along with the kit? I'm
particularly interested in the resonant chamber behind the driver
before the horn throat starts. Horn theory would make that as small as
possible, whereas in this design it is pretty large.

Few say so....

Kit? Wot kit?
Do you mean the heap of battered MDF boards I got from B&Q?

I'm more concerned with chopping the wood up atm!!! :-)

Ah - light dawns. This isn't a horn design by Mr. Busch. He has far
too ambiguous a name to be in this business.

Dells are mostly cheapo contract manufactured junk that will let you down -
only buy if you get the full on extended warranty, on-site as if you send it
back it'll be ages before it's fixed. They're not as good as they were five
years ago when I'd have recommended them unconditionally, and I buy a few
laptops...
Sony - all the /cheaper/ stuff is also contract manufactured junk - the high
end stuff is fine though, especially the sub-notebook (12" and smaller) ones
which are excellent.
Acer seem OK - had a few, not had to repair any.
Samsung - don't. Am typing to you on the first samsung I bought (a Q20) ,
only bought 3, all of which have seen the repair centre more than once.
Never again.
Me? I'd go with Toshiba - every tosh I've owned has been sold on with plenty
of life left in it, the Satellite Pro, Tecra and Portege ranges are
excellent, and they've upped the QC on the cheaper Satellites so they're not
bad either - but no better than an Acer. Tosh offer low cost 3 yr insurance
policies too. I'll be replacing this Samsung with another tosh soon, the
samsung will go on ebay...

Yup, Dell customer service stinks.
Had the hard disk go on this machine (Dell) twice in the warranty period -
they wouldn't replace it the first time until an engineer had come out and
replaced the motherboard first ! Second time the hard disk went I told them
to stop dicking around and a new one was sent next day and swapped over on
the doorstep!!
