I've just bought my 3rd one; got it last Friday.

As an extra bonus: They've upgraded it (not sure how though) to "EVO III"
designation, and the price seems to have come down slightly. Used to
be ~250 GBP, IIRC. This time I only paid 219, and that was WITHOUT
trading the old one in. I could have got it for at least as low as 200
if I'd been more patient and waited for my usual store to get some in,
because they do provide trade-ins for old BPS cartridges.

Since when was a 12CU cart 'high compliance'? The guy's got an
ultralight SMEIII, he needs something *really* floppy, like a Shure
V-15 (if he can find one).

Sorry to 'hijack' this thread... but can you still get genuine Shure
replacement stylii for something like a V15/III? I have one of these, but
haven't replaced the stylus for some time. Don't use it a lot, but may need
a replacement in time.

Slainte,

Jim

Since a friend just purchased a s/h V15 III body and also a s/h NOS stylus,
and another friend without the net hasn't replaced his, er, probably ever;-
I went looking recently:

VN35E ~ $36.96USD
http://www.soundring.com.au/StyliInfo.cfm?StyliID=1491

VN35MR ~$50USD / $71.50NZD (not sure if original or not)
http://styli.co.nz/stylus-392.html

But you're in the UK ...

A V15III (their E.392) stylus is £35.00 from http://www.musonic.co.uk/
(doesn't say whether genuine or replacement - black body - no suffix)
Their web page uses some very slow/large scripts, for dialup or old PCs!

Strange, considering that styli.co.nz get some of their stock from musonic,
that their "392" (red, not black, body) should be cheaper here! But I gather
they have other sources and some new old stock, depending on brand.
You'd need to enquire whether it was an original or aftermarket one.
They happily ship overseas.
[$71.50NZD approx = £27.62 according to http://www.xe.com/ucc/ ]

Horrendous prices in the USA:

VN35MR $177.95USD (!) (original, one left; large pic)
http://www.turntableneedles.com/inde...OD&ProdID=9601
VN35E $135.95 (aftermarket "exact replacement")
http://www.turntableneedles.com/inde...OD&ProdID=9603

I see an MR just sold on Ebay for US $141.89

MR - "micro-ridge" ; even finer than "elliptical", I gather.

Bummer - IIRC the US Library of Congress bought up the entire
remaining stock when Shure stopped making the V15 last year.
